Galerie L'Enfant opened in Washington, D.C. in December 1973, with a small collection of 17th, 18th, and 19th Century furniture. Included in this collection were a few paintings. The gallery rapidly expanded to a twenty-one (21) room gallery-townhouse in 1982, where each room represented a different period. Today, Galerie L'Enfant is located in the heart of historic Georgetown on P and Wisconsin Streets, N .W. in a building occupying four floors as well as an adjacent Annex next door.
In 1978, Galerie L'Enfant began representing well-know living artists such as Joseph Dawley. To date, we have had 15 one-man exhibitions of his works selling in the price range of $1,500 to $100,000 per painting. The exhibitions for Mr. Dawley led to others: namely, Robert Watson, Chuck Connley, John Cort, Glen Pizner, and Kathy Neswig, just to name a few. Most recently, we exhibited paintings by Gerones, the national painter of Spain. For 2001, we will feature shows for Chuck Connley and John Hutson.

Worldwide Clientele

Since we have been opened, we have built an inventory of 18th and 19th Century paintings and furniture. We have over 500 paintings in inventory. In addition, we have on display, many exquisite pieces of Oriental work. Our professional services also include doing appraisals of private and public collections. To date, we have completed over 500 appraisals of personal property. Our largest appraisal was done for the US Army on many of their historic items.
Our clientele is worldwide, including not only individual collectors, but corporate clients as well. We have displayed our paintings publicly from the White House to large national law firms and retailers as well as to large corporations such as Bank of America and Mellon Bank. We are considered one of the finest generalist galleries in the region. Our principals in the gallery have over 70 combined years of experience in this profession.
